We hope you all had an enjoyable summer break…not that it was very summery….and that the boys have settled back into school life happily.
Given the lack of sunshine it does make you realise how lucky we were with the weather at Sports Day. It was a really lovely end to the school year, and Mr. Percik's tenure at Park Road, and he was very appreciative of the tremendous send off the parents gave him. He has forwarded the following letter which he asked to be included in our first Newsletter….
Dear All
I cannot thank you enough for all your kindnesses and hard work in connection with my retirement from Park Road. The last week was like a dream for me and I still cannot believe how we had the only dry day in fifteen for our Sports and my farewell.
Your generosity was overwhelming. I now have the watch, appropriately engraved, and intend to wear it frequently as a reminder of Park Road and all of you. I have spent a large part of the cheque on a fabulous wide screen television. I bought it in time to watch the Olympics on it and can't begin to tell you how superior a viewing experience I am enjoying compared to my previous arrangements. I watch a lot of sport on TV and once again I will be reminded regularly of The Junior School and its parents' largesse.
Be assured that Park Road was a huge part of my life and I am very grateful that all my abiding memories will be happy ones. You will be able to read more of my thoughts written at the end of last term when "The Boltonian" appears. Thank you again.
Yours ever
Mike Percik
Thank you also to all the parents who provided such a wonderful array of cakes for the refreshment tent - they really were fantastic, and were very much appreciated by everyone.
Our main event this term will be the Christmas Fair – this will once again be in the Boys" Division Great Hall on Friday 5th December from 7pm. We will communicate more details, and requests for help a little later, but please put the date in your diary.
At the end of last term we elected our new officers for the forthcoming year, who are as follows…
Joint Chair Jackie Turnbull and Chrissie Haworth
(It was agreed that going forward there would be Joint Chairs which would be the Chair from last year, and a new Chair, with the new Chair then staying on for a second year, to be assisted by another new Chair and so on, thus making the Chair’s role 2 years in total)
Treasurer Helen Critchlow
Secretary Lorna Hayles
On Tuesday 23rd September at 7.30pm we have the New Parents Evening at Park Road, which is an opportunity to meet other new parents, and to learn a little more about school life and the Parents’ Association.
We would be delighted to welcome new parents and existing parents to join the committee; it is a great way to meet other parents, and also to become a little more involved in school life. If you are interested please let us know, and do come along to our next meeting. A list of Parents’ Association meetings for the forthcoming school year is noted below.
Monday September 29th 7pm – Upper Hall Arts Centre

For existing PA members, and those who joined at the end of last year – you should have already received this by e mail, so apologies if any of you haven’t – either we don’t have your e mail address or we must have the incorrect one, but we look forward to seeing you all at the meeting on the 29th.
