midnight memories walk

A sea of pink filled the streets of Bolton as 1,500 women walked eight miles to raise more than £145,000 for Bolton Hospice.

Amongst the crowd - all wearing pink t-shirts – was a strong showing from Bolton School Girls' Division – including teachers and pupils and administrative and catering staff.

Drivers honked horns and people outside pubs cheered on the walkers as they set off at midnight from Victoria Square, up Chorley New Road, past Bolton School to Horwich, and back again.  It took walkers several hours to complete the route and council staff rewarded them with a bacon butty at the end of their trek.

Debra Graham, director of fundraising at Bolton Hospice, said: "we have to say a massive thank you to everybody involved, including the sponsors who helped make it happen and, of course, the ladies who took part.  Well done, you have done us proud.”
