Two teams from Bolton School Girls' Division Junior Department have recorded second place finishes in the National Schools' Swimming Final, held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre Sheffield. The five girls, spread across two teams, became the second fastest freestyle and medley relay swimmers in the country.
Junior School teacher Mrs Howarth praised the teams, saying: "these girls have displayed a loyal commitment throughout the year and a determination to succeed, their hard work has paid dividends as the girls produced the fastest times recorded in Bolton Junior Girls’ swimming history. These were 58.76 seconds in the Freestyle Relay and 1 minute 5.82 seconds in the Medley Relay. This success would not have been possible without the dedicated teaching of the squad coach, Mrs Hall. The results are a testament to hers and the girls’ hard work.”
The squad consisted of Natasha Lomas, Rebecca Neil, Lydia Walker and Lydia Preston (Freestyle Relay) and Natasha Lomas, Emily Woodhead, Lydia Preston and Lydia Walker (Medley Relay).
