Junior Girls’ Swim Team Strikes Gold

Bolton School has won ten gold medals in the AJIS (Association of Junior Independent Schools') Swimming Gala, which took place at Merchant Taylors' School, Liverpool and involved 20 teams from Northern England.  

 

There were individual gold medals for Emily Woodhead in the U11 Breaststroke, Emily Barclay in the U10 Individual Medley, Natasha Lomas in the U11 Front Crawl, Lydia Walker in the U11 Individual Medley and team gold medals in the U11 Medley Relay and U11 Freestyle Relay. 

 

There were silver medals for the U10 Relay Team and for Rebecca Neil in the U11 Backstroke as well as bronze medals for the U10 Freestyle Relay Team. 

 

As one of the top twelve teams in the country, the Junior Freestyle Relay Team will go on to compete in the National Schools' competition which will take place in Harrogate on 3 February 2007.  Mrs Hall, Junior Girls’ team coach, has high hopes for a "podium” finish in the final.

 

The School has a strong swimming tradition and teams also enter the Town Championships, the National Schools Championships and numerous inter-school fixtures.  Swimming training takes place every Monday lunch in the School’s pool.
