Patterdale Hall is located within the Lake District National Park at the southern end of Lake Ullswater. It is easily accessed by road from either the North or the South. Please use the map and directions below.
From the North (and South avoiding Kirkstone Pass)
Leave the M6 motorway at Penrith, Junction 40, and take the A66 West following signs for Ullswater and 'Rheged Discovery Centre'. The dual carriageway comes to a roundabout after about 1 mile, at this roundabout take the second exit, signed Ullswater. Follow this road through to its end at a 'T junction' on the edge of Ullswater, about 5 miles, here turn right for Glenridding and Kirkstone Pass. Ullswater is 8.5 miles long so enjoy the drive! Once at Glenridding continue through the village and look for a right turn on a left bend after loosing sight of the lake. Take this turning and then after another 200metres take the right turning onto the Patterdale Hall drive. The main entrance is in front of you as you enter the court yard.
From the South (via Kirkstone Pass)
Leave the M6 motorway at the South Lakes, Junction 36, and take the A591 West following signs for Kendal, remain on this road and at the roundabout at the end of the Kendal by-pass take the second exit, straight ahead, and pick up signs for Ambleside. Continue on this road to Windermere and at the mini roundabout take the third exit, signed Kirkstone Pass, staying on this road will eventually lead into Patterdale, after travelling up and down Kirkstone Pass. Look out for the Church on the left hand side and take the first turning on the left after the Church, which is on a right hand bend. Take this turning and then after another 200metres take the right turning onto the Patterdale Hall drive. The main entrance is in front of you as you enter the court yard.
