Our teaching methods draw on the best of both traditional and modern approaches. As an independent school, the curriculum is guided by the National Curriculum, but not constrained by it. Teachers are allowed to develop their own schemes of work and can tailor lessons and learning to suit individual classes.
From an early age there is an emphasis on learning through participation. We encourage creativity and independent thinking. We provide a stimulating environment with excellent resources and encourage enquiry and problem solving that enriches learning. A wide curriculum allows all pupils to find their niche and our dedicated and experienced teaching staff help pupils realise their potential. Small classes, particularly in the Sixth Form, allow teachers to focus on individual needs.
Pupils achieve excellent GCSE and A Level grades and the School is widely regarded as one of the best schools in the North of England. Almost all pupils will go on to further study at top tier universities.
