Record Bursary Award from Leverhulme Trust

The prestigious Leverhulme Trust has announced the award of a grant amounting to fifteen fully funded places at Bolton School to strengthen its pupil bursary scheme over the next three years. The Trust, which exists primarily to aid research programmes in Higher Education establishments, has supported the School by periodic grants over a number of years. This latest grant is, however, the largest to date at £370,000 and very much endorses the School's drive to offer its educational opportunities to any worthy boy and girl, regardless of parental income.

Simon Marsden, the School's Clerk and Treasurer said: 'Everyone at the School is absolutely delighted at this strong expression of bursarial support by the Leverhulme Trust, especially as it follows so closely the outstanding results with last month’s Midsummer Night’s Dream Bursary Ball. The demand for assisted places continues to be very high and this grant will bolster our ability to maintain the School’s very important Open Door policy’
