The School is about to embark upon a £12 million building project. 

The expansion plan will see the building of a new Infants' School alongside the Nursery on Dobson Road.  The Girls' Junior School will move to its own purpose-built centre on the current Beech House (Infants' School) site, which will mean classroom space is freed up for the Girls' Division Senior School.  The Boys' Division Junior School on Park Road will be extended and will see a number of temporary buildings converted to permanent structures.

Simon Marsden, Clerk and Treasurer at the School, said: "This is a £12 million investment in the education and futures of young people in the borough.  The new buildings will be state of the art, providing large classrooms and utilising the very latest in technological equipment.  We are all extremely excited about this project and delighted that our development plans have been accepted.”   

The plans were given the go ahead by Bolton Council’s planning committee, who unanimously backed the project on 1 November 2007.  Cllr Linda Thomas, the deputy leader and executive member for children’s services said "I am very pleased there have been no objections this time.  We wanted to support Bolton School in improving its facilities for young people.”  Cllr Roger Hayes, added: “This has been a drawn-out process but Bolton School is a credit to the town and a great resource.”

Building work will begin in the Spring of 2008 and should take 12 months.  There are no plans to increase pupil numbers.
