Morrisby profile - Years 10 & 11
This year has seen a new development in the work of the Careers Department. Each pupil sits the Morrisby Profile test at the end of Year 10. Morrisby measures general intelligence, including verbal, numerical, diagrammatic reasoning, spatial and mechanical aptitudes and speed and accuracy of information processing.
The results are computer-processed by the Morrisby organisation and the feedback is given by an independent educational advisor to both the pupil (and his parents if they wish) in an interview at the start of Year 11. The feedback is based on an interpretation of the different tests and the results are used to outline a 'profile' of individual strengths and weaknesses. Pupils find out what their preferred learning style is and how they are likely to perform in examinations. The test results also suggest how pupils might approach work-related tasks, such as problem-solving and communication. The interview ends with a discussion of the subjects pupils might study at AS and A2 level and beyond. Morrisby therefore is a key element in helping pupils make action plans for entry into Higher Education.
