This year's Bolton School Sports Festival proved so popular that the event had to be held over two days. The competition was the biggest ever and involved over 360 pupils from 33 local primary schools from across the region. The event is now in its fourth year and it continues to grow in popularity each year.
Mr Lovgreen, PE teacher at Bolton School, organised the event and was assisted by Bolton School pupils. He commented: "This is always one of the best days in the school calendar: pupils and parents really enjoy the afternoon. The festival forms part of Bolton School's work with the local community and is a chance to share the resources we have."
Pupils took part in a wide range of sporting challenges, including a rugby slalom, foam-javelin throwing and penalty shoot-outs as well as having their golf, hockey, tennis, athletics, cricket and hurdling skills tested. Schools picked up points in each event they took part in. The overall winner on the first day was Walmsley CE Primary School from Bolton and on day two it was Hardy Mill School, also from Bolton. Other prizes were awarded for sportsmanship, outstanding individual effort and outstanding team effort.
