The Great Hall simply could not accommodate the huge crowd that flocked to the 4th annual Bolton School Boys' Division Autumn Concert and some guests were left standing at the back of the hall.
Mr Martin, Head of Music, coordinated the event and commented: "it's been a great night, thanks to the dedication of over 20 music teachers and the hard work of hundreds of pupils - and what a turnout!”
The School’s Joint Concert Band opened the evening with renditions of MacArthur Park and Chicago. The Percussion Ensemble and Senior Guitar Group offered foot-tapping rhythms and then the School’s Joint Chamber Choir, conducted by Head of Music from the Girls’ Division, Mr Mackenzie, offered some wonderful singing. The Jazz Band, conducted by Mr Wildgust, had everyone swinging through their energetic performance.
The evening’s big finale was a Rock Medley sung by Year 8 boys from the School and Year 6 boys from two local primary schools, Egerton Primary School and Markland Hill. The Year 6 pupils spent the day at Bolton School preparing for the show. They were accompanied by solo singing performances from students in Years 11-13. Parents were encouraged to take part in the final renditions of We Will Rock You and Let Me Entertain You and the Great Hall rocked, literally.
