boys' success in big green poetry machine

Three pupils from Bolton School Boys' Division are to have their poems published.  The boys, Adam Woolley in Year 9 and Alex Crane and Joe Forrester from Year 8, entered their poems in the Big Green Poetry Machine competition.  They had to write a poem about making the world a better place.  Pupils were asked to take on the role of eco-kids and to put poems together telling us what needs to be done to save the planet.  The anthology is due out on 31 October.

Adam Woolley's poem, entitled "A Path of Good Intentions", warned humanity that the efforts thus far undertaken to save the planet, however well intentioned, were not enough.  The poem finished dramatically with the line: “Paved with good intentions is the road to hell.”

Adam said: “I took inspiration from a book I have at home which charts the history of how we have thus far tried to save the world.  I really enjoyed writing the poem and I am delighted that my entry was good enough to be published.”
