A team of budding journalists from all year groups of Bolton School Boys' Division Senior School has been awarded the level of "Highly Commended" in the national Newsday 2008 Competition, run in association with learnnewsdesk from the Guardian.
The competition requires editorial teams from schools across the country to put together a newspaper, website, podcast, blog or short report during the course of a day.
The Boys' Division’s team was led by Alex Fisher who is also the Editor of The Bolton School Paper, a publication which has been in existence since 2002. The March edition of this paper was published in a day and was given the much sought after “Highly Commended” award. Last year, Alex’s team received a “National Distinction” in the same competition. Earlier in the academic year they also passed on their expertise in creating a school newspaper to six local primary schools, who took part in the Bolton Primaries’ Newspaper Challenge held at Bolton School.
