battle of the bands raises £2,400 for charity

Bolton School Boys' Division's Battle of the Bands competition has raised £2,400 for charity, £1000 of which will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.  The money was raised through a dress-down day and through charging pupils to enter the Great Hall, where the lunchtime competition took place.

The quality of the bands was very high and posed a real dilemma for the teachers who sat on the judging panel.  The bands taking part were Radio Edit, Call It A Day, City Limits and Difficult Decisions.  It was close but Radio Edit ran out the winners.  The band has already tasted some success, having recently made it to the final of Xfm’s Rock School.  They will also be backing up Xuefei Wang, the internationally-acclaimed guitarist, when she visits Bolton.

Rob Jones, lead singer in the group, commented: "my dad works in the field of cancer research and it is a cause that the band feels strongly about.”
