pupils and staff abseil down centre arch
Bolton School Boys' Division swung into action with a sponsored abseil to raise money for Sports Relief. Boys were given the chance of a unique opportunity to abseil down one of the prominent turrets of the School's Centre Arch. These impressive towers are a staggering 23 metres high.
The boys were hoping to raise over £2,000 from the abseil and further money through other activities - a non-uniform day on the Friday raised £1,200. Once collected, the money will be donated in memory of Daniel Harrison and Jonathan Sharples, who were both fully involved in the sporting life of the School.
Forty boys participated in the abseiling, which took place over lunch breaks from Monday-Thursday, week beginning 10 March. Much to the boys’ delight, teaching staff and Central Services staff also made the descent on the Friday.
