Children's Hospice benefits from top grades
Form 11a at Bolton School Boys' Division collected more than some outstanding exam results on GCSE results' day this year. The form decided that their hard work would not just reward themselves but also the Derian House Children’s Hospice. Mr Brace, the form teacher, asked sponsors to pledge a sum of money for each A* grade that the form achieved. Twenty five students took 10 GCSEs each and out of the 250 exams that they sat, an impressive 112 A* grades were secured. The pupils are still collecting the money but it looks like £1500 will be passed onto Derian House.
Oliver Sudworth, who came up with the idea of supporting Derian House, commented: "My mum had seen a news item about the hospice on BBC North West News and she gave me the idea. I hope the money raised in our A*-athon helps them in the work that they are doing.”
