Pupils celebrate having their mini sagas published: entries from the Boys' Division will make up almost one tenth of the book

twenty two boys to be published

Twenty two boys from Bolton School Boys' Division are to have their stories published in a book called Mini SAGAS Lancashire on 31 October 2007.  The boys have just moved into Year 8 and all took part in the Young Writers' Mini SAGAS creative writing competition.  Approximately, 60% of all entries to the competition will be published.

The pupils were asked to write a mini saga on any theme that inspired them.  Work was then selected for publication based on perception, imagination, expression, good use of language and completing the deceptively difficult task of writing an effective story in 50 words or less.  The boys chose as their theme, the siege of Brougham Castle.

The boys’ teacher, Mrs Claire Spencer-Jones was delighted and commented: "it is really pleasing that so many pupils are to be published: the book will have about 250 stories so the Bolton School boys’ stories will make up almost 10% of the book.”

Each pupil received a Staedtler pen and a Young Writers' certificate.
