Upper School

In Years 10 and 11, all students study the compulsory core of English, English Literature, Mathematics and Science as well as at least one Modern Language, and one Humanity. We allow our students to take up to 10 GCSE courses, maintaining the maximum breadth possible. In addition, all students must take non-examined courses in ICT, PE and Religion and Philosophy as well as taking part in the ongoing Personal,  Social and Health Education programme which continues throughout the two years.

Flexibility is ensured as we have no set option pools: subjects are allocated each year from student choices. Our Careers and Pastoral Teams offer help and advice to students on making the best possible subject choices, taking into account any plans they may have for the future.

An additional extra-curricular activity for Years 10 and 11 is the very popular Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. There are also two team-working events which are specific to students in Year 10: an exciting Challenge Day at the end of the year and the organising of the Christmas Post which begins with a very entertaining, high-spirited assembly devised and performed by the girls themselves.
