This year's Bank of Scotland Enterprise Competition provided a real headache for the judging panel as the quality of both the concepts and the presentations were at an all time high and there was very little to choose between the four teams. The judges for the competition were Brian Muir, Business Enterprise and Awareness Training Director, Russell Sephton and Karen McWilliam from the bank.
Each of the teams, two from the Boys' Division and two from the Girls' Division, had progressed through from earlier rounds in the competition. Each team gave itself a company name and had to come up with a viable business proposition and then had to pitch their idea to an audience made up of peers and the Bank of Scotland panel. Each team produced a business plan, including information about how their venture would be financed. The competition was along the lines of the tv programme "The Dragons’ Den” whereby companies part fund their enterprise whilst seeking further funding from the bank.
From the Boys’ Division, a company calling itself "Changing Seasons” offered bespoke seasonal indoor floral arrangements and gifts, and a graffiti-clearing service was offered by “JJs”. From the Girls’ Division, “Coyote Blue” offered a festival-goers survival pack and “ViVi” offered GCSE revision aids made by teenagers for teenagers.
After some intense deliberation by the judges, “ViVi” were awarded first prize and the runners-up position went to “JJs”.
