Alicia White, a Year 10 pupil at Bolton School Girls' Division, has raised £255 for the Bolton Hospice.
Alicia, from Westhoughton, gave a 10 minute Powerpoint presentation to a whole school assembly about the work that the hospice does and then set about organising a number of fundraising events over the course of a month. She raised £155 through organising various games in school, such as guess the name of the monkey and lion and guess the number of goals for a Bolton Wanderers' football match. She also got her form involved in organising a cake sale in the form room.
Alicia then raised a further £100 from family, friends and her local church through taking some of these events outside the School and through a raffle.
She decided to raise funds for the hospice after being influenced by the Garden of Tranquillity Appeal and by the fact that her grandfather had spent time in the hospice several years ago. She also took part in the hospice's recent Midnight Memories Walk and raised a further £200 for the cause.
