school team in final of National Business Competition

A team of budding entrepreneurs from the Girls' Division Sixth Form has reached the final of a national business competition.

The Bolton School team will be representing the North-West in the Ogden Trust National Schools' Business Competition.  They will face seven other teams from across the country at the Judge Business School, Cambridge on 7 December.  The team beat Greenhead College and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School in the semi-final, held at Manchester Business School.

The competition is an annual event for Sixth Formers from across the country and is aimed at encouraging business thinking and entrepreneurship in schools.

Sophie said: "On the day you arrive, you have no idea what you are going to have to do.  You are given a pack with a business idea and you have three hours as a team to decide on a strategy, manufacturing, marketing and everything, and then you have to present it as a PowerPoint presentation to the judges at the end of the day.”

If they win, the team, all Business Studies students, will receive a trophy and a day's tour of a top UK company, while the School receives a cash prize.

The Ogden Trust offers scholarships for Sixth Form students wishing to study science subjects at independent schools.
