a night with opera 74 for old girls

The Old Girls' Association enjoyed a wonderful evening of musical entertainment provided by Opera 74 - one of the North-West's leading amateur opera companies.  A packed audience sat back and took a trip down memory lane as they were beguiled by a whole range of hits, including a 40s Medley, Songs from Show Boat, Songs from Guys and Dolls, Once Upon a Dream, You Are My Heart’s Delight, a Memory Medley, We Said We Wouldn’t Look Back and many, many more.

All money raised on the night – expected to be several hundred pounds – will go to Speakeasy which is based in Ramsbottom and supports communication recovery.  A representative of the charity spoke about aphasia which is a communication difficulty that can affect people after a stroke and, nationally, blights the lives of 250,000 people.

An excellent supper was served and the evening was supported by a number of local companies including Dunsters Farm Ltd, 3663 Foodservice, D & M Food Supplies Ltd, Greenhalgh’s Craft Bakery Ltd, Hallows Fruiterers, Kitchequip.co.uk and Lesley Thomas Flowers.
