School is extremely fortunate to have so many individuals who
continue to invest in our future and the future of our pupils. In
the last year alone School received gifts from 349 former pupils,
parents, local companies and charitable trusts - thank you to
everyone who has given so generously.
Every gift we receive really does make a difference to our
pupils' education.
- In 2009-10 the School spent £1.8m on bursaries, providing
financial assistance to over 300 pupils who otherwise would not
have been able to attend the School.
- Our 2009 Annual Fund received tremendous support and raised
over £70,000, which funded:
- One full fee five year bursary
- The landscaping of the Beech House, Park Road and Hesketh House
(Girls' Junior School) playgrounds and the purchase of some new
playtime equipment
- Improving the sound equipment in the Girls' Division Great
Hall
- Providing a fund to allow the Senior Boys to invite prestigious
professionals, for example musicians, business figures, eminent
scientists and authors to visit the School and work directly with
the boys
- To date the School has also secured £2.4m of
funding towards its major Sixth Form Centre
development, which will drastically improve our
facilities so that they match the excellent teaching our Sixth Form
pupils already receive.
Thank you to everyone who has given so generously to the
School. Your donations have allowed us to maintain our
position as one of the leading schools in the North of England and
fulfil Lord Leverhulme's founding vision of providing an
outstanding education to bright children regardless of their
background or financial means.
