Bolton School has a justified reputation as one of the best
schools in the North of England. It is one of the oldest schools in
the region and will celebrate its 500 year anniversary in 2015.
Today, in spite of the economic turbulence dominating all the news
headlines, the School is in excellent health, going from strength
to strength, offering a first-rate education to talented children
from a diverse range of backgrounds.
This was Lord Leverhulme's aim when he re-endowed the School in
1915 - to provide excellence and opportunity to bright young
Boltonians, irrespective of their means. Almost a century later, we
are still striving to uphold these admirable principles.
Bolton School has become the renowned institution it is today as
a result of the generosity of past benefactors. School is now given
no state funding and tuition fees are kept as low as possible for
our parents, so only cover the basic operational running costs. In
order for us to continue developing our facilities to keep pace
with technological change and to continue maintaining our crucial
bursary provision, we rely heavily on the philanthropic help and
generosity from the School community.
We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to all our benefactors,
thank you so much for all your contributions which will make such a
difference to School life. Looking to the future, we will be
appealing to our community to lend support to the School, so we can
grow our bursary provision for the less affluent and improve our
facilities, notably pressing ahead with exciting plans to develop a
new, shared Sixth Form Centre.
