At Bolton School we aim to develop the whole person and great
importance is placed upon extra-curricular activities. All pupils
are strongly encouraged to involve themselves in clubs, societies
and activities, many of which run over the lunchtime break in order
that as many pupils as possible can attend. Some activities,
particularly sport, also take place in the evening and at weekends.
The wide range of clubs and activities available and the effort
that staff and pupils put into running these societies is the
secret to their success.
Academic, artistic, sporting and general interests can all be
pursued: there is also the opportunity to undertake Duke of
Edinburgh Awards and for outdoor activity at Patterdale Hall in the
Lake District. In the Senior Schools emphasis is placed on
developing knowledge about careers, higher education and business
awareness amongst pupils. By years 12 and 13, pupils are
becoming more and more involved in the leadership of clubs and
activities.
