Former Bolton School pupil Paul Holowaty has been getting rave
reviews for his latest performance in the musical thriller
'Wolfboy'.
He is now set to make his West End acting debut in the summer
with the show, which premiered with a successful run at the 2009
Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Paul plays one of the lead roles in the musical as David - a
street hustler who may or may not have the powers of a wolf. The
show is based on the play by Brad Fraser (Love and Human Remains)
and follows two teenagers in children's home. The other lead is
played by Gregg Lowe, friend of Matt Lucas, whose previous credits
include the sell-out production of New Boy at Trafalgar
Studios.
West-End Broadway World said "the acting of both Lowe and Paul
Holowaty (as David) are quite astonishing. They have to rank as two
of the most outstanding performances I've witnessed at this year's
Fringe."
What's On Stage praised "Holowaty's natural delivery and stage
presence" and the Edinburgh Evening News said he had "a swaggering,
energetic quality" and that "the audience were so engrossed by the
drama they leaned increasingly further towards the stage in stunned
silence as the evening progressed".
Paul graduated from one of the UK's most innovative acting
schools, East 15, in 2008. He is perhaps best known for his role as
bad boy Macki in Hollyoaks in 2005, and he has also appeared in
Coronation St and Holby City.
'Wolfboy' runs in Trafalgar Studios 2 from Tuesday July 6 to
Saturday July 31 2010.
