Old Boy Richie Branagan made his International football debut
for the Republic of Ireland, in an U21 friendly against Cyprus.
Richie played in goal for the first half and kept a clean sheet
in the game, which finished 0-0. He is currently signed up as a
goalkeeper with Bury FC. Having previously been part of the
youth system at Bolton Wanderers, he joined the youth set-up at
Bury before joining the first team squad for the 2009/10 season. He
was granted a one year contract extension in the summer of 2010 and
made his Football League debut on 23 October 2010 as a 60th-minute
substitute in a match against Southend United.
Richie is the son of former Republic of Ireland International
and Bolton Wanderers player Keith Branagan, who is now a football
coach for Bolton School Boys' Division.
