Welcome to the Old Girls' Association website. From here you can
read about upcoming Old Girl events, view pictures from recent
events, and find out more about the School, Association and Old
Girls.
I have actively been involved in School life for a long time. I
joined the Girls' Division in 1970 and enjoyed seven very happy
years there. As a parent, I wanted my children to have the same
quality of education that I had received and subsequently I sent
all three of my daughters to Bolton School (two of them are now Old
Girls!). I have been a member of the Old Girls' Association
Committee for several years, alongside being the Chairman of the
Girls' Division Parents' Association, and I was honoured to be
asked to be the Chairman of the Old Girls' Association after Jean
Howarth's term finished last June.
The Old Girls' Association is a very active and fun
organisation. Every year the Association hosts numerous reunions,
dinners, and social events both in School and across the nation.
These are very enjoyable occasions, which attract a large gathering
and are a great opportunity to catch-up with old friends and make
new ones. If you have never been to one of these before, I strongly
recommend you try one. A full diary of upcoming events can be
viewed here.
The Association publishes an annual Newsletter each September,
which is packed full of news from Old Girls. To read the latest
version of the newsletter please click here. If you would like to contribute to
this please feel free to send your articles, news and photographs
to development@boltonschool.org.uk
The Girls' Division ethos has always been, 'much is required of
those to whom much is given', and the Old Girls' Association works
hard to raise money for several charities as well as the Bolton
School Bursary Fund. Our most recent event, a Christmas
Food Festival, raised over £600 for Bolton Hospice.
Through the Association I have had the opportunity to meet many
other Old Girls and it is always fascinating to hear their school
stories and what they have gone on to achieve after they left. I
hope over the year I can catch-up with those I have already met and
meet many more of you.
