Bolton School shares its sporting facilities with the community
in many ways:
- Bolton School has been chosen as the Independent Schools
Football Association (ISFA) Focus School for the Manchester and
North-West region 2009-2011. We will work closely with ISFA to
spread ideas from the centre throughout schools in the whole region
through a series of coaching courses, festivals and invitational
afternoons to help spread best practice.
- Member of Bolton Schools' PE Association and host their termly
meetings
- Trials for Town Teams and County held here for soccer, rugby
and cricket
- football pitches sometimes used by professional teams prior to
their games against Bolton Wanderers or Bury
- Town Team cup finals - football
- Cricket: ran course for local coaches
- Cricket: host, annually, the Andrew Flintoff Cricket
Academy
- Hosted Bolton Indoor Cricket League
- Rugby: recent winners of the Lancashire Rugby School of the
Year award for our contribution towards rugby in the County. Staff
are involved in the County organisation and the County uses our
facilities for practices and trials. Two sports teachers are
involved as coaches and selectors. We also set up Emerging Schools'
Rugby Union initiative and, together with Bolton Rugby Union FC,
are its driving force. On the back of this 9 other schools in the
borough are now playing rugby.
- Bolton Schools' League for Rugby: started at Bolton School, now
based at Bolton Rugby Club but run by the School
- Manchester Schools' Rugby: use our fields and changing
rooms
- Lancashire Schools' Rugby: use our fields and changing
rooms
- Rugby: run Y7 and Y8 Town Tournament - 100 pupils
- Rugby: coaches help run the County rugby team
- Rugby: run coaching sessions for local school teams before
fixtures
- Rugby: run courses for coaches, referees, groundsmen
- Water polo: Centre for the North for Excellence and Hayden
Howard is a Regional Training Centre Coach
- Pool used for English Schools' Swimming Association Events - at
cost
- Life Saving Courses: organised and run by the School for
teachers from other schools
- Organise the Bolton Swimming Championships for PE
Association
- Tennis: courts used for town tennis finals
- Have organised the Sixth Form Athletics Championships
- Netball courts used for local and County tournaments
- Provided lacrosse facilities for the North of England
trials
- Girls' PE department organises sporting events for local
