Bolton School's 2009 Open Morning (17 October) was a hugely
successful event. Hundreds of families and their children
flocked to the campus to visit the Nursery, the new Infants' School
(Beech House), the Boys' Division newly refurbished Junior School
and the Boys' Senior School, the Girls' Division Junior and Senior
Schools, as well as the two Sixth Forms.
The morning offered a chance for enquirers to learn more about
one of the north's top independent schools. The senior
schools had a vast array of displays in their Great Halls and there
were a number of addresses from Head Teachers and pupils, as well
as promotional DVDs. Senior teaching staff were on hand to
answer any questions and the Clerk and Treasurer dispensed
information packs about the School's bursaries.
Representatives from the different Parents' Associations were on
hand to answer questions, as were Bolton School Old Boys and Old
Girls. All the classrooms were open and there was a wide
variety of exhibits and demonstrations, along with guided tours
conducted by pupils.
Across the 32 acre campus a variety of sporting activities took
place, including football, rugby, netball, badminton, climbing and
lacrosse. Staff from Patterdale Hall (the School's outdoor
pursuits centre in the Lake District) were also on hand with advice
and demonstrations.
Visitors were entertained by a whole range of activities,
including short drama productions, abseiling, chamber choirs, a
Spyquest challenge, hands-on science experiments, the chance to
produce 3D objects in Technology and bake cakes in Food
Technology.
Catering staff were kept busy in the School's Arts Centre, where
light refreshments were served to parents and children as they
enjoyed the non-stop music provided by the joint concert and jazz
bands.
Open Morning was a terrific success! Despite the economic
downturn, we saw increased numbers through the door - the
atmosphere was excellent and the School looked great
