Boys' Division: Records Tumble
It has been an outstanding year for Bolton School's Boys'
Division at GCSE. Records tumbled as the boys registered superb
results, well above those achieved by previous cohorts. All boys
passed 5A*- C at a record average of 10 subjects each. A new record
of 39% of passes were A* and the A* and A percentage leapt to a new
high of 74%.
Seven candidates achieved 10A* each, two of them gaining 11A*. A
new record of 60 boys, that is half of the year group, gained 9A*
and A grades or better.
It has been an exceptional year for an exceptional year group. I
was expecting something special, but for them to break six school
records, and by some distance, is a testimony to their ability and
effort. Well done to them all!

Girls' Division: 75% of Entries A* or A
The Girls' Division is celebrating another excellent year for
GCSE results. Seventy five per cent of entries were graded A* or A
and 47 girls, well over a third of the cohort, got at least 10A*
and A grades. Eight girls got 10A* each, one of them gaining
11A*.
Every pupil passed at least 5 subjects (including English and
Maths) with A*-C grades. The total pass rate at A*-C was 99.5%.
I am delighted. Girls and staff have worked really hard and have
achieved an excellent set of results. We are concerned about the
marking of one subject and we will probably have this cohort
remarked. I would then expect the number of A* and A grades to
increase further.
