Girls' Division: 56% of all entries are As
It has been an excellent year for the Girls' Division of Bolton
School. 56% of the all entries were graded A and over 80% were
graded at either A or B. The overall pass rate was 99.5%.
Four girls got 5As - Gabriella McCoy, Katie Bridge, Jenika Patel
and Rebecca Smethurst; a further 19 girls got 4 As. Thirty three
girls got 3, 4 or 5 A grades. Another 20 girls dropped to a B in
just one of their subjects with the rest all As of their 3, 4 or 5
A Levels.
Two girls achieved grades which placed them in the top 5 marks
in the country - they were Charlotte Brabbin in History and
Victoria Southern in Spanish.
Mrs Gill Richards, Headmistress of the Girls' Division, was
"very pleased" with the results and commented:
It's been an excellent year and students and teachers have seen
their hard work rewarded with some first-rate grades. My Head girl
team all got 4 As each - stunning! They were following in the
footsteps of their predecessors last year who achieved all As. The
new Head girl team also look set to achieve the same! The AS
results were also very good and bode well for next year.

Division
Boys' Division: 100% Pass Rate
Similarly, it has been another good year for A Level results in
the Boys' Division. Once again, every candidate passed in every
subject to give a 100% pass rate at an improved average of 4.2
passes per candidate.
The quality of passes was excellent, over half of them (52.3%)
were at grade A and 94% were at grade C or better. No less than 48
candidates achieved 3 grades As or better.
Two students, James Mercer and Alex Polding, achieved 5 grades
As and a further 18 students achieved 4 grade As.
I am as relieved as I am delighted for these students. It has
been a difficult year for the cohort with the deaths of three of
their number and a key member of staff. The students have been
magnificent in the way they have carried themselves and their
personal strengths are reflected in excellent results. They will
surely make their way in life and go on to make a strong
contribution to the community in future. It has been a privilege to
work with them.
