"Personally I attribute a significant part of my success to my Bolton School education and the superb foundation it provided. It is the reason why I am so keen to come back and work with the School. "

Jean K Bowker (nee (Boardman, 1940-1948)

In the Summer of 1948, at the end-of-year entertainment by the School Prefects, the following was sung, to the tune of Now is the Hour, a song made popular at the time by Vera Lynn (the Forces’ sweetheart).  I was one of those Prefects, and am featured in the photograph here, with wings and halo attached!

Now is the hour, when we must say goodbye,

Most of us are leaving, Oh it makes us cry

But here in Bolton School (Girls’ Division)

Our thoughts will always lie

Wherever life is taking us

We’ll remember it till we die.
