Old Boy Christopher Peacock has been nominated for the Young Councillor of the Year award!
The LGiU and CCLA Councillor Achievement Awards aim to recognise councillors’ dedication, hard work and the positive change that they implement, which is often undervalued. The Young Councillor of the Year Award is presented to a councillor aged 30 or under when last elected, who has made a significant contribution to their community. As the average age of councillors in the UK is 59, this award also emphasises the need for the fresh ideas, energy and talent that young people can bring to the political scene.
The judging panel, made up from councillors and experts from local government, will come to their final decision on 11th February 2014.
Christopher attended Bolton School from 1988 to 2002. He went on to achieve a BA in Politics at the University of Newcastle, followed by an MA in British Politics and Parliamentary Studies at the University of Leeds. He is now the Cabinet Member for Adults (Social Care) and the Labour Councillor for Westhoughton North and Chew Moor at Bolton Council.
