Old and Young Mark Armistice Day

Monday, 11 November 2013

On Monday 13th November, over 40 Old Girls returned to Bolton School Girls’ Division to join pupils and staff for an Armistice Service, held in the School’s Great Hall.

The Old Girls processed into the service, each accompanied by a Sixth Form Prefect, before joining the School in hymns, listening to readings and observing the customary two-minute silence.

The Armistice Commemoration included the Last Post and Rouse on either side of the two minutes’ silence.

After the Commemoration, the Old Girls went on to a lunch in the Arts Centre at which they also enjoyed Year 7 girls’ singing of the School Song and songs from Les Misérables.

At the lunch, the Old Girls had ration cards on their tables and this prompted much discussion and the swapping of wartime memories.

The Service has now become an annual fixture in the Old Girls’ calendar, and those who attended very much enjoyed being part of such a significant School event.
