Old Boy Roger is Star of Stage and Screen

Roger Morlidge (1981-1988) is one of a large number of Bolton School pupils who have gone on to become stars of stage and screen, along with Sir Ian McKellen and Ralf Little.

Successful actor Roger has had roles in many well known television programmes including Downton Abbey, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Holby City and The Bill, to name a few. He appeared as Watson in the TV film Sherlock: Case of Evil and has been in numerous films, including his career highlight, Shakespeare in Love, where he played James Armitage alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Judi Dench and Ben Affleck.

Roger has also appeared in many stage productions, including starring as Dave in The Full Monty at The Lowry Theatre in April.

Roger was brought up in a family of actors and his father David was the first ever chairman of Bolton’s Phoenix Theatre Company which staged its first performance in 1982.
