Old Boys Learn of Battlefields’ Trip

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

At the Old Boltonians’ Association lunch in mid-November, Old Boys were captivated by Paul Greenhalgh, a Year 12 student, who gave a thoughtful and insightful recount of the Boys’ Division First World War Battlefields’ Trip which took place during the summer holidays.

39 pupils from Years 9 to 11 took part in the History trip to the First World War battlefields in France. As part of the visit the boys attended the dedication service for a new memorial which was inaugurated to remember those Old Boys of the school who lost their lives in the First World War. The service was held in St George’s Church in Ypres.

In the audience of Old Boys was Kenneth Lee (Class of 1940), Paul’s grandfather. Paul enjoyed chatting with his Grandad and his friends at the lunch which followed his talk. The event was enjoyed by both young and old alike!
