Learning about history at Beech House begins with a study of the
lives of our children's grandparents and, in Year 2, continues with
an investigation into the lives of people from the past or into
significant historical events. Year 2 particularly enjoy finding
out about the Great Fire of London. The children are encouraged to
explore topics through discussion and questioning. They compare
their own lives with those of people who lived at a different time.
Visitors to Beech House fascinate the children with their tales of
a childhood without computers or televisions. Stimulating resources
including photographs, artefacts and interactive whiteboards bring
history to life for our children and help to promote genuine
interest and enthusiasm.
I like History because it gets my mind spinning around
thinking.
