"Bravo to all at the School, and heartiest thanks for their genuine devotion to our children and their futures. If there were to be one example for all schools to be modelled upon, Bolton School would be the natural choice."

Animal Magic at Blackpool Zoo

Monday, 18 January 2016

Children in Reception and Year 1 and Beech House travelled to Blackpool Zoo to learn more about the animals. They had fun at an interesting workshop with zoo staff where they found out about hot and cold habitats. The boys and girls enjoyed meeting some stick insects and even held them in their hands. They were also really excited to get up close to some of the zoo’s reptiles, meeting a snake and stroking a bearded lizard!

The children loved seeing lots of animals that the may not have seen outside of books before: lions, elephants, giraffes, tigers, monkeys and orangutans. It seemed very appropriate for the chilly weather that they also got to see a colony of penguins! The sea lion show was a particularly impressive highlight of the day in spite of the cold.

The boys and girls also loved the ‘dinosaurs’ at the end of their zoo experience! The end of the trip gave them a great chance to discover more about prehistoric creatures as well as those alive today, and the huge dinosaur sculptures really captured their imaginations.
