It was an emotional afternoon at Beech House as past pupils,
staff and parents attended the Farewell to Beech House Open
Afternoon. Old and young were represented as former pupils and
teachers had a final chance to reminisce about past times before
the building is pulled down as part of the School's new buildings
project.
The current Headmistress, Mrs Crawforth, was delighted to renew
acquaintances with past Head, Miss Boston, who was in charge of
Beech House from 1959-1983. Like many others on the day, the
current Head then experienced a mixture of delight and awe as she
came face to face with her first teacher, Miss Finnigan (now Mrs
Wallwork).
The afternoon, on Monday 9 March, ran from 1.30pm to 4.30pm and
there were displays of photos from the archives, refreshments and
tours of the School. The current children continued their lessons
and provided some wonderful singing for the visitors.
A new Infants' School, which will retain the name Beech House,
is currently being built on Dobson Road, next to the School's
Nursery.
