Picnic Time for Teddy Bears

Thursday, 03 July 2014

If you go down to Beech House today, you’re sure of a big surprise! The pupils were accompanied to school by their teddies so that Beech House could host a Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

Far from being discouraged by the drizzly weather, pupils and teachers took their picnic blankets and snacks into the hall. They sat down with their cuddly toys and enjoyed apple slices, strawberries and bear-shaped biscuits – shared with their stuffed friends, of course.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a real Teddy Bears’ Picnic without ‘wonderful games to play’. So, after their feast, the children and their bears sang and danced the Bear Hokey Cokey by helping their teddies put their paws, feet and whole selves into the circle at the right time. There was also great fun to be had in the Musical Statues competition. All the children danced with their bears, and although they were often very good at staying still when the music stopped, their bears let them down by still swinging in the air!

The children and their teddies had a fantastic time at the Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
