There are timetabled PSHCE lessons throughout the year.
The health aspect of the subject is covered in the science
curriculum. In Y3 and Y4 pupils focus on the topics of
feelings, affirmation, caring, friendship, co-operation, conflict
resolution, problem solving and changes. Pupils in Y5 and Y6
study aspects of the KS2 Citizenship scheme of work.
The aim of PSHCE is to encourage the pupils to value society and
to value themselves, to value relationships and to value the
environment. This is achieved by facilitating the will to be
responsible, to care and co-operate with others, to acquire and
practise skills and to form and sustain good relationships. We
carry this out through the medium of circle-time, class discussion
and group work.
