The aims of science in the Junior School can be broadly divided
into two categories:
- to stimulate pupils' curiosity in the world around them and
encourage critical and creative thinking, applying scientific
understanding;
- to create a foundation for the study of science in the Senior
School.
To fulfil these aims, pupils are given the opportunity to
acquire both factual knowledge and the skills of scientific
enquiry: identifying questions that can be addressed
scientifically; planning and carrying out experiments; evaluating
data; and recognising the limitations of their own and others'
work.
This is achieved through an exciting, investigative four year
course which takes place in a large, well resourced science
room.
