Boys’ Fancy Dress Fun Run for RNLI

Friday, 21 June 2013

Bolton School Junior Boys dressed in a nautical theme for their annual fun run as they raised money for the Bolton Branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Joined by the Head of Junior Boys Mr Stephen Whittaker, and ADT Coordinator Mr Tim Dickinson, the boys ran around the Senior School running track for 40 minutes. The pupils ran in pairs, one running whilst the other rested, and they were supported all the way by cheering parents and Tom Ridyard, Chairman of Bolton RNLI.

The annual fundraiser is the main charity event at Park Road, the Junior Boys’ School, and pupils worked hard to raise money and to complete the run on a warm, muggy afternoon! The total raised was an amazing £4264!

Head of Park Road, Mr Stephen Whittaker, said: "All the boys made a fantastic effort today – with their costumes, their running and their collecting of sponsors.  Fundraising brings issues from the outside world into the classroom and develops in boys a sense of responsibility and benevolence that they carry with them throughout their lives.”
