Boys Join Voices with The Brixi Singers

Saturday, 15 October 2016

Thirty one boys from the Upper School Choir at Bolton School Junior Boys' School lent their voices to a joint concert held with The Brixi Singers, a local adult choir.

Performing in the Senior School Great Hall, the boys performed five pieces with The Brixi Singers, “Look at the World” and “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter, Elgar’s “Ave Verum Corpus”, Goodall’s “The Lord is my Shepherd” and a rousing version of “Down by the River-side” arranged by Alan Carter. They also performed 2 pieces on their own, “Go the Distance” from Hercules by Alan Menken and “A la Carte” (with apologies to Mozart!) by Judith Watson.

Reflecting on the evening, Headteacher Sue Faulkner said: "The Brixi Singers sang a number of pieces, both accompanied and unaccompanied which the boys listened to very attentively. It was a very good experience for the boys to see and listen to an accomplished adult choir, and even better for them to join with them. Thank you very much to Mrs Carolan and Mrs Yates who gave their time to help out."
