"As my three children pass through Park Road, I watch them develop into well-mannered, well-educated and interested young boys, with an enthusiasm for life and all its opportunities."

Boys Progress to National Chess Semi-Final

Saturday, 06 February 2016

U11 and U9 chess teams from Bolton School Junior Boys’ School have made it through to the English Primary Schools’ Chess Association semi-final, which will be held at Prestatyn in June. They progressed through after achieving highly in an EPSCA zone qualifying round held at Bolton School. The competition is for pupils aged 5-11 years and is split into two age groups - U9s and U11s.

Having entered two teams in the Under 11 competition and four in the Under 9 competition, the Junior Boys claimed first and third in the U11 category and first, third, fourth and fifth in the U9 section.

Last year, the Junior Boys’ U11 A team qualified for the national final in Birmingham, which made them one of the best eight teams in the country. Three of this year’s U11 team were amongst the boys that went to the final last year so already have lots of good experience to call upon.
