Mr Stephen Whittaker, the current Headteacher of St Peter's CE
Primary School in Chorley, has been appointed as the new Headmaster
of Bolton School Boys' Division's Junior School. Mr Whittaker has a
Bachelors of Education from the University of Chester and has been
a Primary School teacher for 15 years. After six years at St James'
CE Primary School in Lower Darwen, he moved to St John's
CE/Methodist Primary School in Brinscall, where he became Deputy
Headteacher. He then moved to St Peter's, where he has been
Headteacher for the last five years.
Mr Whittaker is keen to develop each pupil's capabilities to the
full. He places emphasis on the importance of children gaining
experience outside the classroom and has a record of providing a
wide range of extra-curricular activities for pupils including
football, badminton, singing groups and school bands. He is also a
firm believer in developing his own staff and involving parents and
the wider community in the life of the School.
Outside school, Mr Whittaker is leader of Leyland Methodist
Church's junior Music and Drama group and regularly plays drums for
the CX music group.
