Mr Stephen Whittaker, the new Head Teacher at Bolton School
Boys' Division Junior School, presided over a harvest festival in
aid of the Drop-in Centre at St Luke's Church on Chorley Old
Road.
The whole school gathered in the boys' hall and parents listened
to a number of hymns as well as an address and prayers by the
Reverend Stuart Cornes of St Luke's Church. He told the audience
how the drop-in centre benefits individuals' lives and told of how
it had helped one man to get back to work and to rebuild his
life.
The boys and their parents brought in a wide range of food
items. This is the third year that the Junior School has supported
the drop-in centre, which aims to enable people from the local
community to overcome problems and whose work is particularly
geared towards helping the homeless, long-term unemployed and the
elderly. The centre provides over 10,000 free meals every year.
