All four Junior Boys' chess teams have made it through to the
Semi Finals of the EPSCA (English Primary Schools Chess
Association) National Primary Schools Chess Team Championship
2010.
The competition is for pupils aged 5 - 11 years and is split
into two age groups - U9 and U11. Four teams of six boys from
Bolton School were entered into the first round, which was held at
Bridgewater School on Saturday 6 February. The U9 A team won
their section with the U9 B team taking third place, while the U11
A team came in second place and the U11 B team came fourth in their
section.
The Semi Finals consist of 6 rounds over 2 days at three
different Pontins venues. Bolton School Junior Boys will be
competing at Pontins in Prestatyn on 19 and 20 June.
We wish the boys the best of luck and who knows - there may be a
future Nigel Short (a Bolton School Old Boy) in the making!
