Bolton School Junior Boys' School is hoping to raise around
£6,000 for Bolton Hospice through their annual Fun Run in fancy
dress!
The event made for a very colourful scene as pupils in various
fancy dress outfits along with the Head of Junior Boys, Mr Stephen
Whittaker and Deputy Head, Mr Craig Rashleigh, ran around the
Senior School running track for 40 minutes. The pupils ran in
pairs, one would run whilst the other rested, and they were
supported all the way by cheering parents.
This year the run was in memory of Brian Stevens, whose son
James is a Year 4 pupil at the school, and all the boys worked
extremely hard to earn their sponsorship money in order to support
Bolton Hospice.
The annual fundraiser is the main charity event for the Junior
boys but during the year they have also been involved in raising
money via a Readathon, Jeans for Genes, a Harvest Appeal for St
Luke's Church, Bolton and Send a Cow campaign.
Head, Stephen Whittaker, said: "Activities like are
important in that they allow boys to engage with the world outside
school and imbue in them a sense of responsibility and benevolence
towards others."
